KIDS and YOUTH MATERIALS
Dear GCBC Parents:
The false teachers described in Jude 8 claim authority from their dreams and not from the teachings of Jesus or God’s Word. We must help our children and teens recognise the importance of knowing God’s Word so we won’t be deceived by false teaching. The Digging Deeper verses help us to know what true followers of Christ look like in bearing fruits of the Spirit and guarding our words. We must do the challenging work of studying God’s Word so we won’t be easily swayed by false or worldly teachings. It is so important to teach this to our children and teens, especially as they have questions or are challenged by peers or teachers with questions about the Christian faith.
May the Lord continue to give us strength and grace this week as we spend time in His Word and with our families.
God Bless,
Mandy

Digging Deeper Verses (NLT) (for children & youth) – Draw or write down your thoughts
Jude 8-13 – In these verses, Jude is telling us something of the character of the false teachers. This is opposite to the way Christians are called to live. Use the Digging Deeper verses to help understand how we are to live differently to the false teachers.
Having been chosen (called) – we are to bear fruit (rather than the unfruitful, dead trees of the false teachers)
John 15:16 – “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.”
Fruits of the Spirit are to be the hallmarks of our character – not the sinfulness that Jude describes in verses 8-13
Galatians 5:22-23 – “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”
We are not to sit in judgement over others – that is God’s role. And we need to think about the words we say to and about each other.
James 4:11-12 – “Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticise and judge each other, then you are criticising and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you.God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbour?”
James 5:9 – “Don’t grumble about each other, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. For look—the Judge is standing at the door!”
Draw or write out the differences between a false teacher and a person who is following Jesus’ teachings. Can you spot their differences?
