KIDS and YOUTH MATERIALS
Dear GCBC Parents:
We’ll be looking at Psalm 133 on Sunday so I thought it would be nice for the children to mark up parts of the psalm for themselves. Then there are four more verses for digging deeper into the message of harmony amongst believers in the church.
I pray you have a lovely day worshiping together as a family. I was recently reminded that children are impacted by what their parents teach them more than we may realise and more than they may let on. Persevere in your call to disciple your children in Christian faith, and pray for them daily to have soft hearts toward Jesus. They are listening!
God Bless,
Mandy
Sunday, 9th August Links:
Write out Psalm 133 in large print on a piece of paper or print out the Digging Deeper worksheet
- Circle the word “harmony” everywhere you see it.
- Underline the words used to describe “harmony” (Clue: There are 4 words altogether.)
- Highlight or colour over the sentence that tells us how the Lord responds to harmony amongst His people.
Psalm 133 – (A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. A psalm of David.) “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the LORD has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.”
Other words for “harmony”- unity, peace, fellowship, friendship, oneness (www.merriam-webster.com)
What do the following verses tell us about harmony for Christians?
Romans 14:19 – “So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.”
Colossians 3:14 – “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.”
John 17:22-23 – “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.” [Jesus speaking here]
1 John 1:7 – “But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.”
